Albums

Before Toto was formed the members of the group performed session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs' 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in 1976.
The third album of Toto, Turn Back, marked a change from the more progressive sound of their earlier efforts and was criticized for its lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned The band held auditions to find a replacement frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the album Fahrenheit in 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several old demos and tapes to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans and Toto began the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem Von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings as well as an interview with the group.
